These paintings and drawings were all created directly from life in my studio in Salt Lake.

I try not to disguise the process and source material in my works. I began to think of these drawings and paintings as static metatheatrical retro fantasies on an artificial stage set up in my studio.

I considered it important for my narrative to show the stage, the lighting and the studio, tape marks and all.
