So our shows were certainly scruffier than gallery exhibitions but people seemed to really enjoy coming out and seeing work that they couldn't see in galleries, by up-and-comers who were working outside the mainstream.

We knew a lot of our work was not really about selling, and it was refreshing to just show what we wanted to exhibit without having to worry about gallery or commercial concerns.
