Street Scene Warped Curved Space 360 Degree View Dog Car Kids Shadows Trees Painting
Hollywood and McClelland
Oil on Canvas
36" x 60"
2012

This is a painting that I worked on for a very long time. It spans over 360 degrees from left to right, and the telephone poles on either side are actually the same pole. There are eight perpendicular vanishing points in this painting.

I started by creating a panoramic photomontage with over 200 photos à la David Hockney and then worked from this fractured, semi-cubist image. It took several visits to the location and many more reference photos to get this composition, and then quite a bit of invention with the figures and the blue T-Bird which were not there during any of the photo shoots, to get them to work in the bent light and space of the painting.
