Girl Softball Renaissance Landscape
Deep in Left Field
Oil, Epoxy Resin and Paper on Canvas
84" x 54"

Another piece drawn from Throwback Thursday, a phenomenon in the 20teens where people would put old photos of themselves or their loved ones on Facebook for me to grab. Most of these I pretty much just responded to everything in the image but this one I took a lot of liberties with the background, which was a boring California subdivision with chainlink in front of it. Just like my own experience with any organized sport I was ever forced into, I wanted her to be thinking about anything but baseball, head in the clouds (which was my first title for it). So I put her in a Renaissance landscape with as many layers of aerial perspective as I could, thinking about the grand portraits of the English tradition like Gainsborough, Lawrence and Reynolds.
